The Scriptures tells us that we the Church are a "type" of first fruits.
James 1:18....."In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures."
Jesus is going to Rapture His Church in the Spring and present the saints of the body of Christ whom He purchased with His blood as a "first fruits" offering unto God the Father. The Church is going to be the "first" to be resurrected and harvested during the "Barley harvest" in the Spring which concludes by Pentecost. The "second" great harvest of souls will then take place during the "Wheat harvest" ( Begins at Pentecost / represents the End of the age / the seven year tribulation period - A great multitude is harvested out of the tribulation period / Rev. 7:9, 10 ),

( 1.) Jesus the first fruits from the dead / represents the "first resurrection."
( 2.) The Church, the body of Christ is the first harvest ( Barley harvest ), concludes by Pentecost.
( 3.) The tribulation saints are the second harvest ( Wheat harvest - begins at Pentecost ), the separation of the "Wheat" from the "tares" ( Matt. 13:30 ) Represents the End of the age / 7 year tribulation ).
( 4.) The final and last stage of the "first resurrection" / tribulation martyrs raised from the dead ( Rev. 20: 4,5 ).
( 5.) Great White Throne / represents the "second resurrection" which is the resurrection of all the lost souls ( of all time - past, present, and future ) who died without having received God's salvation. These go into eternal punishment ( Rev. 20:11-15 ).
The agricultural year in Israel begins in the autumn (after the harvest festival of Tabernacles) with plowing and sowing. Harvests in Israel begin in spring in the month of Adar ( February/March ). The following harvest times in ancient Israel are obtained from the Readers Digest book entitled Jesus and His Times, pages 100-101.
Months Weather Crops & activity
Tishri 7th month(Sep/Oct) First rains Plowing begins
Heshvan 8th month(Oct/Nov) Plowing / grain planting
Kislev 9th month(Nov/Dec) Grain planting continues
Teveth 10th month(Dec/Jan) Main rains
Sebat 11th month (Jan/Feb)
Adar 12th month (Feb/Mar) Spring rains Almond in bloom / flax harvest
Aviv 1st month (Mar/Apr) Barley harvest begins
2nd month (Apr/May) Barley harvest completed by the 49th Omer / Pentecost
3rd month (May/Jun) Dry season Wheat harvest begins ( Pentecost ) represents the End of the age - 7 yr. trib
4th month (Jun/Jul) Wheat harvest completed / first figs
Av 5th month (Jul/Aug) Summer heat Vintage ( grape harvest ) begins / Wine press - Rev. 19:15
Elul 6th month (Aug/Sep) Date harvest / summer figs
From the above, one can see that the harvest season in ancient Israel began in Adar ( Feb/March ) and continued by stages into autumn. The barley harvest began in March-April: the first sheaf being cut and waived in the middle of Aviv, which could be any time between 21st March and the middle of April. It is the same in modern Israel.
