ENGAGE vs. ENTANGLE
(A Good Soldier’s Balance – 2 Timothy 2:4 KJV)ENGAGE — Purposeful interaction as salt and light, contending boldly while remaining free to please Christ.
We are sent into the world yet not of it.
ENTANGLE — Becoming woven into worldly affairs so tightly that we cannot freely please our Commander or endure hardness.
Synopsis
RULE ONE: As I've gone over in detail in my Blog links above, we must KNOW our IDENTITY. Once we have established and know that we now move in that knowledge as AMBASSADORS who do not hide our heads in the sand but STRIVE LAWFULLY in this fallen world. Doing our jobs as we are called upon by our MASTER, our LORD and our SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST.AMEN! MARANATHA!
Christians must neither hide from the world nor become ensnared by it.
STUDY:
“KJV Bible Study Makes Saints Doctrinal Scholars” and “Again, Let us EXAMINE Ourselves. Philadelphia vs Laodicea” at TheThirdHeavenTraveler.com.This is why we MUST STUDY TO SHOW OURSELVES APPROVED unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15), and work in doctrine (2 Timothy 3:16-17) that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. We must work out of knowing our true identity in Christ.
Jesus sends us into the world as ambassadors while declaring we are not of it (John 17:14-18). Like Paul, we engage lawfully — preaching in public squares, using citizenship rights, contending for the faith, and giving answers with meekness — yet refuse entanglement with civilian affairs that would keep us from pleasing Christ (2 Timothy 2:4).
When authorities command silence or sin, we obey God rather than men (Acts 5:29). As strangers and pilgrims we shine through honest conduct (1 Peter 2:11-12; Matthew 5:14-16). We rebuke them sharply that they may be sound in the faith (Titus 1:13).
KJV Bible study makes saints doctrinal scholars, trained by the Master Himself as we hear and follow His voice (John 10:27; John 1:1), with a renewed mind of Christ. Again, let us examine ourselves whether we be in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5), staying free as good soldiers amid perilous times.

“I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil… As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.” (John 17:15,18)
We shine publicly (Matthew 5:14-16), contend for the faith (Jude 3), use lawful rights (Acts 22:25-29), obey God rather than men when commands conflict (Acts 5:29; Acts 4:19-20), rebuke them sharply that they may be sound in the faith (Titus 1:13), and use all Scripture for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16). We live honestly among the Gentiles as strangers and pilgrims (1 Peter 2:11-12).ENTANGLE — Becoming woven into worldly affairs so tightly that we cannot freely please our Commander or endure hardness.
“No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.” (2 Timothy 2:4)
This occurs when politics, career, culture, or causes control time, heart, or loyalty, leading to distraction, compromise, or silence instead of bold truth.Synopsis
