“Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation [peirasmos]: the spirit indeed is willing,
but the flesh is weak,” Matthew 26:41.
Introduction
This warning in
our text Scripture was given by the Lord Jesus Himself to His disciples. It was given in the Garden of Gethsemane
where Christ had gone to pray, after having observed the Lord’s Supper with His
disciples, Matthew 26:26-30. Christ
Himself had gone apart from the disciples to pray, and when He returned, He
found them sleeping, 26:36-40.
It was at that exact point that Christ uttered this warning to
His disciples.
Many Christians today do not realize that this was not only a warning
for those disciples, but it was a
warning for the Lord’s disciples living in the end-times, just before
the beginning of the Tribulation period.
Why do I say this? Because the
word translated as “temptation” in the Greek text is the word “peirasmos.” This word
occurs 21 times in the New Testament, and is generally translated as “temptation,”
meaning “testing; trial; trouble;
conflict.” The word actually and literally refers to the Tribulation period
which follows this present “dispensation of grace.” I know this to be true because I made
a “word study” on this word in the past and wrote it up into a Bible study
entitled P-E-I-R-A-M-O-S. I will be glad to send this study to any
reader requesting it.
When the disciples, some three years earlier, had asked the Lord to
teach them how to pray, the Lord gave to them the model prayer, Matthew
6:10-13. In this prayer the Lord
explicitly told the disciples, “After this manner pray ye…” In verse 13 the Lord specifically
instructed them to pray, “And lead us not into temptation [peirasmos], but deliver us from
evil:…”
So just after the beginning of the personal ministry
of Christ, the Lord warned the disciples to pray that they would not be led
into the Tribulation period. Then here
at the end of His personal ministry, just before His crucifixion, Christ warned
them again about entering into the Tribulation. This was a specific warning for
those who claim to be the disciples of the Lord. Christ graciously warned us that “the
spirit is willing” to live for and serve the Lord, but “the
flesh is weak.” In this present
time of apostasy in the churches and the
ranks of Christianity, and gross wickedness in the world all about us, it is
very easy to fall by the wayside and give ourselves over to the things of the
world and the flesh. This perfectly
harmonizes with the disciples “sleeping” when they should have
been praying and “watching.” Hello!
Now here we are living in the end-time right before the end of
this present dispensation, the coming of the Lord to resurrect and rapture His
true New Covenant believers to glory, and the beginning of the Tribulation. And
what do we see? The churches and the
ranks of Christianity are in a state of apostasy; “sleeping” on the job,
instead of “watching,” witnessing, and warning. And what about our readers? Why should we be
so concerned about this? Not only
because Christ warned us in advance but because of the whole world situation at
this very minute…..
Looming
Catastrophes
Natural
Weather…..As I write the
temperature here in Missouri is 6 degrees and going down. Tonight it will be minus 6 with a 20 to 30
mph wind, making the wind chill feel like 20 to 30 below zero. This has been the hardest winter in this
state, according to the meteorologists, since 1890. Many other states across the nation are
faring even worse, with records being broken all over the country, and people
suffering and dying from the bitter cold.
What is causing it? Some blame it
on HARP, some

on chemtrails spraying weather altering
chemicals. Others on the cycles of the
Sun. All may be right to some extent,
but it is obvious from God’s Word that Almighty God has the final say so when
it comes to the weather. It would not be
happening if He was not permitting it or directing it. Hello!
Earthquakes…..The final “sign”
the Lord gave to indicate “the beginning of sorrows” in Matthew
24:7 was “earthquakes in divers places.” There
have been more huge earthquakes in the past three years, than in the previous
100 years, and they are increasing in both frequency and intensity. Is the Lord trying to tell us something? If so, are you listening?
Volcanoes…..As I write there
are numerous volcanoes erupting in several different nations around the world,
and others shaking and threatening to erupt.
The inspired Word clearly predicts, “And I will show wonders in heaven above,
and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke: The sun
shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that
great and notable day of the Lord come:
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the
Lord shall be saved,” Acts 2:19-21. Compare
Joel
2:30-32. As volcanic eruptions
increase in frequency and intensity, there will be standing upright pillars of
smoke [volcanic ash] all over the
earth, exactly as the inspired Word predicts, which may very well blot out the
sun for days at a time. The Lord God does
use His creation to fulfill His Word and His will, Psalm 148:1-8. Are you ready for it?
Yellowstone…..Yellowstone
National Park in this country is the second largest super volcano on earth. It began to show signs of moving toward an
eruption clear back in 2001. This past
week a USGS “whistleblower” reported that the Park Rangers at Yellowstone are
keeping from the public the fact that Yellowstone is now shaking with earth
tremors 24 hours a day without let up.
These constant earth tremors are believed to be a prelude to a gigantic
explosion and eruption of this “super volcano.”
If Yellowstone erupts as it has in past history, every living thing in a
600 mile circle around Yellowstone would die instantly, and the explosion would
blow so much volcanic ash high into the atmosphere that it would literally
block out all sunlight upon the earth for several days. The prevailing winds would carry much of this
ash across the eastern United States and on around the world.
I have on my desk as I write a geologists map of the major fault lines
in this country. There is a fault line
that runs directly from the Yellowstone Caldera slighty southwest right across
the San Andreas fault line along the west coast, and then directly through the
center of Los Angeles, California. It is
highly likely that if Yellowstone erupts, it would set off earthquakes and
volcanoes along this fault line, and along the San Adreas fault line running up
the west coast. Some geologists think it
might even set off the New Madrid fault line along the Mississippi River.
Drouth and Flooding…..Even as I write some parts of the earth are
experiencing extreme drouth, causing loss of water for drinking and growing
crops, and other parts of the earth are experiencing massive rain storms and
flooding. Just before the Lord God
brought judgment upon ancient Israel some 2,600 years ago He shut up the
heavens and withheld the rain. Read it
for yourself in Amos 4:7-8.
Man
Made
Nuclear consequences…..I am
old enough to remember the great propaganda campaign after the Second World War
to promote nuclear energy and build nuclear power plants. I didn’t believe we needed them back then,
and I am even more convinced of it today.
There are alternatives superior to anything man has come up with yet,
but the public has never been told about the alternatives, for there is not as
much MONEY involved in it. Yes, I do
know what I am talking about!
As I write there is a nuclear waste dump near Carlsbad, New Mexico that
is on fire. This is a huge
underground cavern where barrels of nuclear waste have been stored and
accumulating for many years. I have
personally driven right past the entrance to this place several times when I
was living in New Mexico. The alarms at
the dump went off three weeks ago or more, alerting the authorities that
nuclear contamination was occurring. The
contamination was so high and dangerous that workers could not enter the
facility to check it out. Then about a
week later SMOKE began coming out of the air vents, indicating that a fire was
burning. The smoke is highly
contaminated with nuclear radiation. The
smoke is rising upwards into the atmosphere and the prevailing winds are
carrying the contamination to the east.
As usual, not a word about this has been reported by the news media
on America’s news

channels. [Erase!
FOX News has now reported on it]. Folks, it ought to be obvious that if this
nuclear waste dump explodes, it will wipe out southern New Mexico and spread
nuclear radiation all over this nation.
And we have been concerned about…..
Fukishimi…..Here is another
man made disaster that is still occurring as I write. Yes, I am well aware that a gigantic
earthquake and tsunami caused the damage to the nuclear power plant in Japan in
March of 2011. But hey! The earthquake and tsunami didn’t build the
nuclear power plant right on the coast line of Japan. That was done by the stupidity of men! So far leakage from the Fukishimi disaster has
contaminated the entire Pacific as far south as southern California, and likely
much farther. According to divers the
sea floor off the west coast of America is littered with the dead bodies of
millions of fish and other sea creatures, and the nuclear power plant is
still leaking radiation into the Pacific Ocean and into the air currents
above the power plant. Much of the air
borne radiation has already spread to the west coast of Alaska, Canada, and the
United States and continues to be carried eastward across these countries by
the prevailing winds even as I write.

Washington State…..In just
the last two days comes word that a huge dam built across the Columbia River to
the north of the Hanford Nuclear Facility has a gigantic crack in the dam. This was reported by ABC news last night. The crack is said to be 65 feet long and runs
across the face of the dam, allowing the face of the dam to begin to bulge
outward. The authorities are frantically
trying to lower the water in the dam to keep it from breaking. If this dam should break, it would send a
flood of water down the Columbia River that could possibly wipe out the Hanford
Nuclear facility and several towns located below the dam. In fact, it could possibly cause a chain
reaction by breaking other dams below it on the river, and create a disaster
with great destruction and loss of life.
The Gulf of Mexico…..In spite
of BP Oil Company’s blathering propaganda, the mess created by them in the Gulf
of Mexico has not gone away or disappeared. The bottom of the Gulf is still covered by
oil and methane gas, mixed with the chemicals they poured into the Gulf that
caused the oil to sink to the bottom of the Gulf and out of sight of the
public. What the Gulf contains is a
highly volatile mixture that, under the right circumstances, could explode in
one of the greatest explosions in human history. If this were to happen, it would totally
destroy the southern part of the United States along the Gulf Coast, as well as
part of Mexico and likely Central America.
Millions of lives would be lost.
Political
and Military
Israel…..As I write, due to
pressure from the U.S. President [?] and Secretary of State John Kerry, it
appears that the Israeli government has now agreed to sign a seven year
peace treaty giving the west bank of Israel to the Palestinians. Details are being worked out, and the treaty
is expected to be signed about April 15th. Now isn’t it interesting that the Jewish
Passover this year falls on April 15th, and so does the first
“blood moon?” Is it possible there is a
connection? Read Daniel 9:27 and Isaiah
28:14-18 again and pray for Israel.
But this isn’t all! In 2010 the
Israeli government gave authority for a large tract of land in east Jerusalem
to be turned over to the Vatican. Since
that time the land has been in process of development by the Vatican. The Pope in Rome actually desires to establish
a second Vatican in Jerusalem. What they
have been developing on the land given to the Pope these past three years has
been the residence of the Pope; the Papal Palace. Before any reader dismisses this information
as some “conspiracy theory,” I suggest reading Daniel 11:45. It has been publicly announced that the Pope
will travel to Jerusalem in April to meet with Israeli authorities and
to examine his new Papal Palace to see if it meets his approval in view of
moving his residence to Jerusalem. Any
reader who has not read my Bible study entitled “A White Knight?” needs to read it.

Pray for Israel!
The Ukraine…..Yes, there is
great trouble in the Ukraine, as reported on by the U.S. news media a dozen
times a day. Putin, the leader of Russia
has now sent troops into the Ukraine, supposedly to put down a civil war and
protect Russia’s interest in the neighboring nation. The U.S. President [?] has responded by
butting into problems there which are literally none of our business. Putin of Russia has been angered by our
interference, but this hasn’t deterred the U.S. political hierarchy from
interfering.

It was announced on the news this
morning that Kerry will be traveling to the Ukraine to “assess the
situation.” I am made to wonder if there
is a politician in Washington today who has sense enough to read and understand
the advice given to this nation by our founding fathers. I think it was Adams who
explicitly warned America to “stay out of foreign wars.” Those people over there have been
fighting each other for a thousand years or more. And now our present administration is eager
to get the United States involved in the fray and show those Russians “how to live in peace.” Sic!
Folks, Russia, just like the U.S., is armed to the teeth with nuclear
bombs. According to those who deal with
such matters, it would require only 15 minutes for nuclear missiles to
pass over the top of the earth and began landing on American cities, in the
event Putin should give the order to the Russian military to “push the
button.” All our dumb politicians need
to do is take us back into a “cold war” with Russia and make the Russians mad
enough to launch a strike against us. Oh
by the way, the silly theory that no
nation would dare start a nuclear war because of the fear of retaliation is
unadulterated bunk. Any military
officer can tell you that the nation who strikes first in a nuclear war will
have won the war! There would not be
any retaliation! Now let’s hear three
cheers for Obama, Kerry, and Clinton, America’s very own three stooges!
The
Blessed Hope
The reports I have listed are not my overactive imagination, or
an attempt to sensationalize. These
reports are real problems that mankind is facing RIGHT NOW! Does any reader then wonder why Paul was
inspired of God to say, “This know also, that in the last
days perilous times [dangerous;
grevious] shall come,” 2 Timothy 3:1?
Folks, no man on earth can solve these problems and straighten
out the mess that mankind has made upon the earth. The only hope for mankind is “the
blessed hope” of our Lord’s coming.
Don’t become so discouraged by these and other problems that may yet
arise, that you fall by the wayside, Luke 18:1. Keep your heart, soul, and mind in the Word
of God and upon the Lord Jesus Christ and “the blessed hope” of His soon
return for His people [true New Covenant
believers…1 Corinthians 15:23], Titus 2:11-15. Never become so obsessed with watching
“the
wind and the waves” that you take your eyes and heart off of the Lord
Jesus and His coming for His people, Matthew 14:22-33.
If any reader is not saved by the grace of God, then
the problems set forth in this study are the problems you and your loved ones
are going to have to face and deal with in the immediate future. Is this really what you want? I want you to know that there is a way of
escape, Luke 21:36. HIS NAME
