Reproving newnews: The Psalm 83 War Is Not on the Evening News
All Scripture is from the KING JAMES BIBLE.
“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” (2 Timothy 4:2 KJV)
The Psalm 83 war is not on the evening news. On November 1, 2026, the YouTube channel newnews (@newnews3361, website newnewscast.com) posted a 24-minute video titled “The US and Israel’s next war with Iran as seen in scripture, listening to the prophets.”
Ross Brandt (NewsNewscast) claims that reported US strikes on Iran, possibly as early as November 4, may be the war of Psalm 83 and Zechariah 12, and that the Rapture comes first. If you read my Blog post on the Psalm 83 war this does not add up especially his ridiculuous claim that it is the US who is involved and also Iran.
Ross is doing exactly what I warned against in my 2022 study, The Psalm 83 War and The Destruction of Damascus Happen in the Tribulation: taking a news headline and fitting Scripture around it. Below I lay out what he taught, then reprove six errors with the King James Bible, comparing scripture with scripture.
What newnews taught
His argument runs in eight steps:
The news. He reads reports that the US is preparing renewed strikes on Iran, possibly on November 4, the day after the midterm elections.
His thesis. This may be “the war that’s being spoken of within scriptures,” Zechariah 12 and Psalm 83, a war God “interrupts.” Just before it comes the Rapture, then Daniel’s seventieth week.
Micah 1. God’s reproof of Samaria and Judah. He links the melting mountains of Micah 1:4 to Psalm 83, and “the transgression of Jacob” to Israel being divided today.
Micah 3. He applies “eat the flesh of my people” (Micah 3:3) to the October 7 hostages, and the false prophets crying “Peace” (Micah 3:5) to 1 Thessalonians 5:3.
God hides His face. From Micah 3:4, Luke 19:41-44 and Ezekiel 39:23-29, he teaches that God has hidden His face from the Jews until a set time.
The timing. He says we cannot know the day or the hour, yet “this if is getting smaller all the time,” and offers November 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6.
America in prophecy. He says Micah 4 shows “America does have a place within scripture,” and that America is the last Gentile kingdom, the iron-and-clay feet of Daniel 2.
The close. Believers are protected from false prophets by the Holy Spirit, and the midterms are “really not that important” if his reading is correct.
Quotations are from the video’s automatic captions.
The root problem: matching words is not harmonizing Scripture
Every error below grows from one root. newnews does not know how to harmonize Scripture. He told his viewers exactly how he works: you read one passage, then find another that “kind of corresponds,” and it “kind of supports” the first, and over time you follow “a little breadcrumb every now and then.”
That is word association, not Bible study. In my study How to Study and Understand the King James Bible I set out the method a workman approved unto God must use:
Study means to work. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). Rightly dividing comes first, before any harmonizing.
Context, context, context. Ask who, what, when, where, why and how. Take in the whole chapter, then narrow to the verse.
Compare scripture with scripture in the same exact context. Take one verse and find other scriptures where the word is used in the same exact context, not merely where it sounds alike.
Use the concordance and the grammar. Find every applicable verse, and know the vocabulary and grammar thoroughly before drawing a conclusion.
Test every spirit. Be a Berean (Acts 17:11) and “try the spirits whether they are of God” (1 John 4:1). An impression is from the Holy Spirit only when it lines up with the written word.
newnews skips every step. He pairs passages because they share a word: melting mountains in Micah 1 and Psalm 83, enemies “round about” in Luke 19 and Psalm 83, “hide my face” in Micah and Ezekiel. He never asks who is speaking, to whom, when, or whether the contexts are the same. Shared words are not shared contexts, and a breadcrumb trail built on sound-alikes leads wherever the news is pointing that week.
Error 1: Setting dates by headline
He quotes the warning, then breaks it in the same breath. After admitting we cannot know the day or the hour, he narrows the window to November 2 through 6 because a news outlet reported a possible strike date.
“But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” (Matthew 24:36 KJV)
The Lord did not say “no man knoweth, but the news may narrow it down.” A date pulled from a news report is still a date. When November 6 passes, his viewers will be left shaken, and the scoffers of 2 Peter 3:4 will have one more reason to say “Where is the promise of his coming?”
This is private interpretation:
“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.” (2 Peter 1:20 KJV)
Scripture interprets scripture. The newspaper does not interpret scripture.
Error 2: Wrong war, wrong nations, wrong hand
Psalm 83 cannot be a US air campaign against Iran, for three reasons found in the psalm itself.
The nations are named, and Iran is not among them.
“The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes; Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.” (Psalm 83:6-8 KJV)
These are the peoples bordering the land. Persia, which is Iran, is not on Asaph’s list. Persia appears in Ezekiel 38:5, “Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them,” in the army of Gog. As I showed in my study Russia Invasion of Israel is NOT before the Rapture, that war follows the thousand years (Revelation 20:7-8). He has mixed two separate prophecies to fit one headline.
The destruction is God’s own hand.
“O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind. As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire; So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.” (Psalm 83:13-15 KJV)
This is God’s tempest and God’s storm. Isaiah 17:13 uses the same language for the end of Damascus: “chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.” These are supernatural judgments of God, not actions by mankind’s hand. A “brief but intense” round of airstrikes is not the fire of Psalm 83.
The result has not come.
“That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.” (Psalm 83:18 KJV)
The whole earth will know the LORD when the Lord Jesus Christ returns in glory (Revelation 19). Notice too that newnews never mentions Damascus. Isaiah 17:1 still waits: “Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.” These belong together in the Day of the Lord, not in this week’s news cycle.
Error 3: Zechariah 12 is the Second Coming, not a pre-Tribulation war
newnews calls Zechariah 12 a war that God “interrupts,” with the Rapture just before it. Read the chapter to its end:
“And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.” (Zechariah 12:9-10 KJV)
Israel looks upon Him whom they pierced. That is the Lord Jesus Christ seen with their eyes at His return (Revelation 1:7). “In that day” is the Day of the Lord, the time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7), and it is used the same way in Zechariah 14, Isaiah 13 and 34, and Joel 2.
He even quotes the proof against himself. Ezekiel 39:29 says, “Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel.” That is the outpouring of Zechariah 12:10, at the end, not the beginning. By his own admission God’s face is still hidden, so Zechariah 12 has not arrived.
Error 4: Micah wrested from its context
“The transgression of Jacob.” newnews explains this as Jacob personally ending up “in control of the lower part of Israel when Israel is divided into two.” Jacob died in Egypt centuries before the kingdom divided under Rehoboam. The verse defines its own terms:
“For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem?” (Micah 1:5 KJV)
Jacob is the nation. Its transgression is the idolatry centered in its two capitals, Samaria and Jerusalem.
“Eat the flesh of my people.” He applies this to what was done to the October 7 hostages. Read who is being addressed:
“And I said, Hear, I pray you, O heads of Jacob, and ye princes of the house of Israel; Is it not for you to know judgment? Who hate the good, and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones.” (Micah 3:1-2 KJV)
God is rebuking Israel’s own rulers for devouring their own people through injustice. It is not a prophecy of a foreign terror attack. The atrocities of October 7 were real and grievous, but this verse is not about them.
The Holy Ghost warns us against this very handling of the word:
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15 KJV)
Error 5: Luke 19 is Jerusalem’s fall in A.D. 70, not Psalm 83
newnews reads Luke 19:41-44 and ties its “enemies” to the surrounding enemies of Psalm 83. Read what the Lord Jesus actually said:
“And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.” (Luke 19:41-44 KJV)
This passage has nothing to do with Psalm 83, for four reasons.
The judgment falls on Jerusalem, not on her enemies. In Psalm 83 God destroys the nations that conspire against Israel. In Luke 19 God lets Jerusalem’s enemies prevail against her. The two passages run in opposite directions.
It was fulfilled. Rome under Titus encircled Jerusalem and levelled it in A.D. 70. The Lord’s companion prophecy says so plainly: “And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh” (Luke 21:20). Jerusalem was then to be “trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled” (Luke 21:24). That is Israel under Gentile dominion, the very opposite of Psalm 83’s enemies being consumed.
The cause is the rejection of Messiah. “Because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation” points back to the Lord’s first coming, riding into Jerusalem on the colt. Psalm 83’s enemies are judged for conspiring against God’s people, not Israel for rejecting her King.
“Hid from thine eyes” is not God hiding His face. In Luke 19:42 the things of peace are hidden from Israel’s eyes: her own judicial blindness (Romans 11:25). newnews merges this with God hiding His face in Micah 3:4 and Ezekiel 39 to build a timeline. Related themes, but Luke 19 carries no Psalm 83 war in it.
Note the tense in the King James Bible: “thou knewest not.” The visitation already came, and Israel missed it.
Error 6: America is not in Daniel 2 or Micah 4, and the text will not allow it
newnews told his viewers that the last Gentile kingdom of Daniel 2, the feet of iron and clay, “is America,” and that Micah 4 shows “America does have a place within scripture.” He read no verse that says either. This is not a matter of opinion. The text itself shuts every door he tries to open, and it can be shown in seven steps.
1. Daniel names exactly four kingdoms, then God’s kingdom. There is no fifth.
“And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.” (Daniel 2:44 KJV)
Gold, silver, brass, iron, then the stone. If America is the feet, then America is either a fifth kingdom, which Daniel never gives, or America is the fourth kingdom itself, which is impossible as the next steps show.
2. The feet grow out of the fourth kingdom. They are not a new nation.
“And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.” (Daniel 2:41 KJV)
“The kingdom shall be divided,” and “in it” is “the strength of the iron.” The feet are the same iron kingdom in its last, divided form. Daniel 7 says the same of the fourth beast: “the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise” (Daniel 7:24). Out of this kingdom, not across an ocean from it.
3. The ten toes are ten kings. America is one nation.
This alone ends the matter. Daniel does not say the stone strikes in the days of one superpower. He says “in the days of these kings” (Daniel 2:44), plural, reigning at the same time. Daniel 7:24 numbers them: “the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise.” And John, writing long after Daniel, tells us when they reign:
“And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.” (Revelation 17:12-13 KJV)
Ten kings, reigning together, “one hour with the beast,” giving their power to the Antichrist. That is the Tribulation, after the Church is gone. One nation with one government, reigning now, before the beast is revealed, is not ten kings who “have received no kingdom as yet.”
newnews even refuted himself on camera. Right after naming America as the feet and toes, he admitted, “We don’t call us a king. He is not a king over here.” Exactly so. America has no king, let alone ten. A teacher who must explain away the very word “kings” to make his interpretation fit should stop and ask whether he is reading the text or rewriting it.
4. Scripture identifies the fourth kingdom, and it is not America.
“And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.” (Daniel 9:26 KJV)
The people who destroyed the city and the sanctuary after Messiah was cut off were the Romans, in A.D. 70, exactly as the Lord foretold in Luke 19 and 21. The fourth kingdom is Rome, and the coming prince arises from that people. America did not exist for seventeen centuries afterward.
5. Every kingdom in the image ruled over Jerusalem. America never has.
Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome each held dominion over Jerusalem and the Jews. That is what the image is: the times of the Gentiles, “and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled” (Luke 21:24). The United States has never ruled Jerusalem. A nation that never trod down Jerusalem cannot be part of the image of the Gentiles who did.
6. The stone strikes all the metals together, at once.
“Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together.” (Daniel 2:34-35 KJV)
One blow, “together,” and the stone “became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.” That is the Lord Jesus Christ returning to destroy the whole system of Gentile world power and to reign. It is not an election, a midterm, or an airstrike, and the feet it strikes belong to the iron kingdom, not to the United States standing alone.
7. Micah 4’s “strong nation” is Israel, and the verses say so.
“In that day, saith the LORD, will I assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted; And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever. And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.” (Micah 4:6-8 KJV)
She who halted, was driven out, afflicted and cast far off, then gathered and reigned over in mount Zion, is the daughter of Zion. The strong nation is Israel restored under her King. America appears in Micah 4 only among the “many nations” that come up to the mountain of the LORD (Micah 4:2), with every other Gentile nation.
The verdict. To put America in Daniel 2 you must invent a fifth kingdom, cut the feet off the legs they grow from, turn ten kings into one republic with no king at all, overturn Daniel 9:26, and place a nation that never ruled Jerusalem in an image of those that did. To put it in Micah 4 you must give Israel’s promise to another people. It cannot be done without breaking the text.
newnews, you did not find America in Daniel and Micah. You brought it there. The word of God warns against exactly that:
“Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” (Proverbs 30:6 KJV)
Retract this teaching as publicly as you gave it.
The same America-centered error I exposed in 2024
Throughout the video newnews treats America as the actor in prophecy: America’s strikes on Iran as the trigger of Psalm 83 and Zechariah 12, America as the feet of Daniel 2, America hidden in Micah 4. This is not new. In December 2024 I exposed the self-named “Unknown Prophet”, whose message likewise put America at the center of God’s prophetic plan. My answer then is my answer now: America and the world are not going to turn back to God, and America is not the hinge of Bible prophecy.
The prophets never hand the climax to America. In Zechariah 12 the LORD Himself does the acting, in the first person, every time:
“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about... In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness... And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.” (Zechariah 12:2, 4, 9 KJV)
Not the Pentagon, not a coalition, not a president. “I will.” Psalm 83 is the same, a prayer that God Himself would act: “So persecute them with thy tempest” (Psalm 83:15). When a teacher writes America into the place Scripture reserves for the LORD, he is reading the newspaper back into the Bible.
The old remedy still stands for every teacher who claims to see America in prophecy:
“And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.” (1 Corinthians 14:32 KJV)
What a man says must be subject to what the prophets have already written. Measured against Daniel, Micah, Zechariah and Psalm 83, America is not there.
What he got right
Give credit where it is due. newnews rightly teaches that the Rapture comes before the time of Jacob’s trouble. He rightly warns that false prophets cry “Peace” (1 Thessalonians 5:3; Micah 3:5). He rightly says believers must read, study and be taught by the Holy Spirit. And he rightly sees that Israel is presently under judgment, with God’s face hidden.
That is why his errors matter. Sound pieces assembled in the wrong order still build a false house.
The order Scripture gives
The Rapture of the Church. “For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thessalonians 5:9).
Peace and safety, then sudden destruction. The Antichrist confirms the covenant with many (Daniel 9:27), and the seal judgments of Revelation 6 follow: war, famine, pestilence, earthquake.
The time of Jacob’s trouble. The Antichrist breaks the covenant and defiles the temple (Matthew 24:15). God preserves a third part (Zechariah 13:9).
The Second Coming. Christ returns with His saints and destroys His enemies at Armageddon (Revelation 19; Ezekiel 39). Here Psalm 83’s prayer is answered in full, Damascus becomes a ruinous heap (Isaiah 17), and Israel looks upon Him whom they pierced (Zechariah 12:10).
After the thousand years. Gog and Magog, with Persia among them, rise once more and are consumed (Ezekiel 38; Revelation 20:7-9).
No step in that order is fulfilled by a US strike on Iran this week.
A word to newnews and his viewers
Brother, you told your viewers, “you’re not in darkness, folks. You’re in the light.” Amen. Then do not lead them by the light of the news. “But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief” (1 Thessalonians 5:4). We are not in darkness because we have the word of God, not because we have the headlines.
Retract the date window. Read Psalm 83 for the nations it actually names. Let Zechariah 12 end where the Holy Ghost ends it, at the feet of the pierced Messiah. And to everyone watching: when November 6 comes and goes, do not let it shake your faith in the Lord’s coming. It was never His promise that failed, only a man’s private interpretation.
“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” (Matthew 7:15 KJV)
Maranatha!
