Godhead in Genesis 22:8; God as the Soul: working backward to Genesis 1:26,27, 2:7

Prelude:

"The following is a brilliant synopsis of this study by Brother Jon Lutz. This work by Brother Jon, has been undoubtedly inspired by the unction of the Holy Spirit. To God be the Glory Forever, Amen, Maranatha! I pray the reader's eyes be opened to the truth spoken here which is based on the infallible word of God, King James Bible:

QUOTE:

“No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him (John 1:18)

The word of God is deep within Him and no man can know it until He speaks. He spoke from his bosom. The bosom signifies where all spoken words come from, the lungs, deep within the person. The bosom also signifies the heart which runs deeper yet and is more mysterious than the lungs.

In John, when the Word was made flesh in Jesus, He was a container for the Father and was one with the Father. Though the Son was distinct from the Father, He was not separate from the Father because He was His Word containing His essential and exact spirit. The Father was abiding in the Son (John 14:10,11). Those who do not believe the deity of Christ have made a tragic under sight.

Wait, if Jesus Christ as the Father’s Word containing His essential and exact spirit, how is this any different than this, from your blog Defending The Godhead against the Trinity?

Look carefully at this context of verses 6 through 9. The Holy Spirit is not a person but Spirit of whom both The Father and Jesus Christ are that Spirit. Harmonize numerous scriptures beginning with creation (we are in His Image (Jesus, hands, feet, face) and after the likeness of the Godhead (plural 3 parts) Genesis 1:26. We are not 3 bodies or persons walking around but rather one body comprised of 3 parts: Body, Soul, Spirit 1 Thessalonians 5:23. Continue with essential scripture to harmonize, to wit: Romans 8:9, John 6:46, Colossians 1:15, 2:9, John 14:9, John 8:58, Exodus 3:14, Matthew 10:20, ETC. (Take the necessary time to read each scripture and harmonize these with 1 John 5:7,8. They can't be harmonized with 3 individual persons.

Therefore, we see clearly that there is only one body Jesus Christ, and the FATHER resides within Jesus Christ as the HOLY SPIRIT functioning as THE SOUL (will - I came not to do my will, but the will of the father, John 6:38-40). Three Parts = Body, Soul, and Spirit. We are made after His Likeness Genesis 1:26, same essence - body, soul, spirit. See 1 Thessalonians 5:23

Looking closely at 1 John 5:5-8 KJV using context we see clearly the biblical truth of 3 witnesses bear record as one witness - or in other words - 3 bear witness in one accord that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. We have to look in the context of verses 5 - 8 to see that in accordance with Deuteronomy 17:6 KJV and Matthew 18:16 KJV etc. Jesus Christ is the Son of God and The Spirit bears witness of this. In heaven 3 bear witness of this and on earth 3 bear witness of this. Verse 7 proves Jesus is the Visible image of God and possesses the Holy Spirit to witness He is come as the Son of God. Verse 8 proves Jesus Christ came to earth as the Son of God by Spirit - Water - Blood and all of these are a testimony of this truth. Amen!

If one did not properly harmonize 1 Thessalonians 5:23 with 1 John 5:7 we would have to conclude that I am actually three distinct people living in one person. We bear the image of Jesus Christ - face, hands, legs - in His image (Genesis 1:26). Jesus is the ONLY BODY PERSON. The Father is Spirit in witness as the Soul within Jesus Christ.

Psalm 88:

14 KJB

Lord, why castest thou off my soul? why hidest thou thy face from me?

For background please see my Blogs on the Godhead vs Trinity vs Modalism and related subjects in note one below:

Godhead in Genesis 22:8; working backward to Genesis 1:26,27, 2:7; and then forward through Genesis 9:4,5; Exodus 3:14-17, Isaiah 53:10,11, Amos 6:8, and forward through Matthew 16:26, 20:28 to Luke 9:25; John 1:29, 6:38, 14:9, 10; Acts 2:22,23; Colossians 1;15; 2:9; 1 John 5;7; Revelation 4;2,5;1, 5;7; 22:3

In the Bible we are told that God will provide himself (reflexive masculine 3rd person personal pronoun referring back to the subject pronoun) as the lamb to be sacrificed for our sins. Genesis 22:8

We are told that God is talking to himself in the plural to ourselves (reflexive plural pronoun of subject pronoun of we) Genesis 1:26, 27;

We know the lamb of God to take away the sins of the world is Jesus Christ. John 1:29, 14:10; this is clear that God is manifested bodily as Jesus Christ and that Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God as well as the Godhead bodily (Focus on word bodily, this leaves only the soul and spirit function of creation) Colossians 1:15, 2:9)

A snapshot look at John 14:10 is explained below which clearly shows us the function of God working in Jesus Christ who is the visible image of the godhead.

We are told by Jesus Christ himself that he came as the son of man to give his life. Matthew 20:28

We know that Revelation 22:3 tells us that the Throne of God is where the Lamb sits. This is obvious that Jesus Christ will be on the throne of God

We are told by Trinitarians that God is 3 persons in 1 God. But the Godhead is clearly one God composed of 3 parts, not persons. I am created in the image of God and I am only 1 person not three persons, but I am of 3 very distinct functions and parts: my body, my soul, and my spirit.

In the notes below I have the scriptures and notes to show how the Godhead is really comprised as God the Father being Spirit existing as the function of the soul in the body of Jesus Christ who is the image (actual representation, manifestation of the invisible God) and the Holy Spirit as the function of the Spirit.

Until we are in our glorified bodies and can distinctly see as did John the revelator in Revelation chapter 4 when he was caught up into the 3rd Heaven.  This means to see the Spirit of God we must be in our glorified bodies.

Please see this great study by a brother in Christ explaining Jesus Christ is the name, image. power of God The Father explaining the Godhead not the Pagan Trinity of 3 Gods

A very strong and powerful solid Bible based teaching that supports my belief against the teaching of the Pagan Trinity is a study by a Brother in Christ named Theodore Valentine of Lion of Judah Ministries I found and have added this to my study: Please see links below. I really like the way he proves that the Trinity makes the Bible Polytheistic. Amen!

Ministry by
Theodore and Lenae Valentine of Lion of Judah Ministries.

Note: I disagree with Theodore teaching that Genesis 1:26 is not plural (Elohiym) and that God is not talking to himself but rather all his kingdom and heavenly host which Theodore calls Majestic Plurality which is not found in the bible and he is now using Philosophy to explain something that is clearly not written in scripture. I believe the strong's definition of H430 shows plural and the English Translation is clearly US = 1st person plural objective, which I believe God is literally talking to himself as witnessed by Genesis 1:27 and clearly God makes us in His OWN image and again in Genesis 2:7 when God breathed life into us we became a living soul, clearly shows we were created in the image of the Godhead, meaning we’re composed of Physical, Spirit and a living Soul. We are only 1 person but have 3 components.

Strong’s Definitions

אֱלֹהִים ʼĕlôhîym, el-o-heem'; plural of H433; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God.

ENDNOTES:

Genesis 22:8-13 King James Version (KJV)

8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

Genesis 1:26-27 King James Version (KJV)

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Isaiah 53:10-11 King James Version (KJV)

10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

Observation of Isaiah 53:10,11: Verse 10 begins addressing God the Father in 3rd person to bruise and put him (the only begotten son) to grief: then after a full colon stop the scripture changes to 2nd person by saying: " ...thou shalt make his soul (the son of man (Jesus Christ as our kinsman redeemer) an offering for sin". Verse 11: God the Father is talking here> we see a switch to 1st person. What is happening here? God the Father is addressing himself. Harmonize this with Matthew 20:28: “to give his life a ransom for many…” Jesus willingly laid down his life.

If you really study the meaning of soul within the full context God had planned from before the beginning of time to offer himself. Please read: Genesis 22:8

“And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.” King James Version (KJV) When you look at Genesis 22:8 the word in Hebrew here for provide is raah literally meaning will appear as , present himself as a lamb for the sacrifice... I pray we all carefully and prayerfully consider this in studying the Godhead of how the soul is God the Father manifested IN Jesus Christ as the IMAGE of the invisible God ...

BDB Definition:

to see, look at, inspect, perceive, consider

to see, have vision

to look at, see, regard, look after, see after, learn about, observe, watch, look upon, look out, find out

to see, observe, consider, look at, give attention to, discern, distinguish

to look at, gaze at

(Niphal)

to appear, present oneself

to be seen

to be visible

When you see that God is addressing this issue and see my study here below in the Blog link that God the Father is the soul of Jesus Christ, abiding in Jesus Christ, you’ll see that there’s much more to this than simply trying to say that the Son of Man has a soul which he does of course. Also, why would Jesus Christ cry out: “My God, My God why hast thou forsaken me?” The Holy Spirit and the Father (soul) within Jesus Christ were removed before Christ, the son of man died in his physical body, soul, and spirit. I also believe that as the son of man, Jesus’ spirit and soul were grieving beyond human comprehension. Amen. If you really study in depth the meaning of soul, spirit and body along with scripture you’ll see hopefully see it goes beyond what you’re saying here. I strongly recommend reading “The Spiritual Man” by Watchman Nee (1968 edition hard copy, later editions have been corrupted).

The Will of the Father.

John 6:38-40 King James Version (KJV)

38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

The Spiritual Man by Watchman Nee quote: “A careful study of the Bible will yield the conclusion that these three primary faculties of personality belong to the soul.

FACULTY OF VOLITION

The Will

FACULTY OF INTELLECT OR MIND

Thoughts

FACULTY OF EMOTION

Affection, Desires, Feelings

Soul Hebrew is nephesh ; Greek is psuche - natural life, SOUL = LIFE

Soul is Self

Matthew 16:26 and Luke 9:25 both clearly identify SOUL with life and self… I am that I am is how God defines himself.. I AM = is the essence of expression of existence.

Matthew 16:26 King James Version (KJV)

26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Luke 9:25 King James Version (KJV)

25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?

Exodus 3:14-17 King James Version (KJV)

SOUL is identified as to be to exist: I AM = To be in the first person.

14 And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you. Hayah Hebrew Ehyeh

“in order to fully interpret the verse is to explain and translate the puzzling words of Exodus 3:14a; ehyeh asher ehyeh. This is undoubtedly the greatest challenge in Biblical interpretation.” quote taken from meaning of ehyeh asher ehyeh : https://exodus-314.com/part-ii/the-meaning-of-ehyeh-asher-ehyeh/

This link clearly shows how this means God is identified as I AM I AM .

Hebrew ehyeh = to be; study the word That and grammar structure:

The King James Version uses the demonstrative adjective "that" I am "that" I am. The purpose as this has been translated is modifying (used to describe or clarify) I am. In other words, God is telling Moses that his name is I AM and clarifies it again by repeating. Therefore it could be said as follows: I AM, I AM .

See how defining SOUL as the quintessential existence is I AM.

More notes on SOUL as a function of God

The Lord God has sworn by himself (sworn by his soul) Amos 6:8

Matthew 20:28 “To give his LIFE (SOUL) as a ransom for many”

Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood” Genesis 9:4,5

Note: SOUL is life and life is in the blood but blood is a biological physical agent that is a manifestation of the invisible activity of the soul… God uses Blood as the agent that is used for the solvent to erase sin. Since Genesis 22:8 tells us that God will be himself a sacrifice, it only stands to reason that the outward manifestation would be life as defined in the bible as “blood”.

Key Scriptures of the Godhead:

John 14:9, 10  King James Version (KJV)

9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? 10:
Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. (NOTE: All work is performed by the faculty of the soul. The faculty of the soul is manifested by the mind, will, and emotion. Please see notes below on the function of the soul. Jesus said, "the Father that dwells in me does the work. How can this be? Jesus is in human form but is not performing the work. The principal function of any task begins with a thought generated from the mind.

Acts 2:22 King James Version (KJV)

22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know

Colossians 1:15 King James Version (KJV)

15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

Colossians 2:9 King James Version (KJV)

9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily

1 John 5:7 King James Version (KJV)

7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Revelation 4:2 King James Version (KJV)

2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

Revelation 5 King James Version (KJV)

5 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.

7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.

Revelation 22:3 King James Version (KJV)

3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

In conclusion we Christians can all agree that the entire Godhead issue is indeed a mystery and are told so in scripture. None of us fully see this until we’re in our glorified bodies. (I have a Blog on this also attached.) Colossians 2:2 King James Version (KJV)

2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

The Godhead (God The Father, The Son of God, and The Holy Spirit) created man (male and female) in His (The Godhead) image by breathing the breath of life into him (spirit) into him. (note 1)

Jesus continually tells us that He and the Father are one and that when you see the Father you see him. We are also told that Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God and the Godhead. (note 2).

We believe that there is only one God and not 3 separate gods within one god as the trinity teaches. We believe in the Godhead (note 3)

Question asked. How can God be living in Jesus and We in God?

Answer: God (Godhead) created man in His image. We are comprised of body, soul and spirit. So, therefore when Jesus dwelt on earth, he was living and moving as fully God and fully man. The divine nature of Jesus Christ obviously had God the Father dwelling in him as spirit and since the Holy Spirit is also a part of the Godhead it would make sense that God The Father would be the function of the soul. But where is this in scripture? In Genesis scriptures in (note 1) . We have the witness of the Oxford hard copy dictionary clearly showing the complete meaning of Soul. (note 4 ) .

For a complete and in depth study of Spirit, Soul and Body based on scripture please read Watchman Nee, "The Spiritual Man" edition 1968. Modern versions have been corrupted by the new publisher. Note: Watchman Nee uses ASV taken from the King James and there are also Darby study Bible references that can be read with the King James Version.

SOUL: The spiritual part of man in contrast to the purely physical. To breathe - to fill with life, to quicken, filled with life spirit to give life to; to breathe life into. (Note we're looking at a Noun being identified by a stative verb to define the very essence of a living being.

This is extremely important. We often think the purpose of a verb in English Grammar is to describe the action, activity of the subject. But in the case of Genesis defining God the Father as functioning as the Soul, we see clearly that the verb breathe (into) is a stative function when we look at the full definition of the word soul as in context.

Study Grammar function of stative verb is a class of word that indicates a state of being of an object or a living being.
