We face three kinds of Christians dear Brethren. Which are you?
We face 3 kinds of Christians dear Brethren. Which are you?
1. Those who are complete imposters, fakes used by Satan to accomplish the works of their father to kill, steal and destroy. 2. Those who are in their perpetual carnal state, never maturing, continually being used by Satan who’s work will be burned as stubble at the BEMA and those who learn continually and grow in spiritual maturity. 3. Those who grow and mature in their walk with the Lord, using their gifts in accordance with God’s will, running their race for the prize.
A Judas, the wretched deceitful sinner, called but never chosen by God, who faked being a follower of Jesus Christ, but whose work was used and exposed by our Lord. Remember, 1 John 2:19 KJV: “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. Whom by extraordinary craft mix in heavy doses of leaven to trip up and deceive the brethren.
A Peter, the wretched, big mouthed sinner, called and chosen by God, to whom God revealed the truth of who Jesus Christ truly is. Who desperately tried - by his own might, to follow Jesus and defend and follow him to the death “in his own flesh” who failed miserably. Who was used by Satan and rebuked and corrected by both Jesus for savoring the things of man over the divine perfect will and purpose of God. Who was struggling to understand the AGE OF GRACE, rebuked by Paul for falling into the trap of the Judiazers. {Certainly we can't diminish Peter's position as an apostle and knowing that Peter would ultimately became a completely sold out great man of God and martyr. I'm only using his struggles to show what striving in the law and works within the confines of grace. }
A Paul, the wretched zealot sinner, called and chosen by God, who once having found the truth of walking in GRACE grew in spiritual maturity beyond his peers to run his race for the prize and never looked back.
NOTE: Judas was a false disciple. To clarify my use of the Apostles as an example of Christians, I want to make it clear to the reader that I realize we’re in the post apostolic age and we do not have an apostolic anointing which many false teachers teach today. We can, however, look to the apostles as “examples” based on their Christian walk.
Scripture references as we look at Peter as an example:
Matthew 16:15-23
King James Version
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
Mark 8:33 KJV
27 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?
28 And they answered, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.
29 And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.
30 And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.
31 And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
32 And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.
33 But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.
scriptures we have to use as Paul as an example
1 Corinthians 9:24
24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
2 Timothy 4:7
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Galatians 2:11-21 KJV
11 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.
12 For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.
13 And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.
14 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?
15 We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,
16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.
18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.
19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
