Lieutenant Colonel Anthony "Tony" Aguilar is a retired U.S. Army Special Forces officer, known as a Green Beret, with 25 years of service.
A West Point graduate, he was deployed 12 times, including to Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Tajikistan, Jordan, and the Philippines, earning a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for valor in combat.
Aguilar has publicly claimed he witnessed war crimes by Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and U.S. contractors at GHF aid sites, describing the use of indiscriminate force, including tank rounds, artillery, and mortar fire against unarmed, starving Palestinian civilians.
GHF and UG Solutions have denied Aguilar’s allegations, asserting that no civilians were shot by their personnel and that warning shots were fired only to maintain order. They claim Aguilar’s accounts are false, citing affidavits from other contractors and metadata showing inconsistencies in his timeline.
From May to June 2025, he worked as a security contractor for UG Solutions, partnered with the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a U.S.- and Israel-backed organization distributing aid in Gaza.
He alleges the aid sites were deliberately placed in active combat zones, surrounded by razor wire, and designed as "death traps," violating international humanitarian law. He also criticized the GHF’s operations as disorganized and inadequate, stating they provided only a fraction of the needed aid.
Aguilar says he resigned due to these issues, though GHF claims he was fired for misconduct and later falsified a memo to discredit them.
The IDF also denies his claims, admitting only to "warning shots" that killed "several" civilians, while alleging Hamas interference at aid sites.Aguilar’s testimony has been covered by outlets like the BBC, PBS, Mother Jones, and Tucker Carlson’s show, sparking controversy amid reports of over 1,000 Palestinian deaths near GHF sites since May 2025.
His allegations align with some eyewitness accounts but are contested by GHF, UG Solutions, and the IDF, leaving the issue unresolved.
