Amos 5:18

“Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.”

According to scripture, there's no "Rapture" written in the Bible. They reference Thessalonians (Harpazo), however that word comes from Latin text and Harpazo is used sparingly in the Bible - often in a violent tone. Jewish people love dispensationalism. This confusion can lead to poor decision making in politics and even society... Irrational decisions tend to flow through the brain. eg: John 10:12“…the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.” Predator snatching sheep "There is no mention ofca modern-day secular state called Israel in the bible" Do you agree that this heretical ideology from the 1800s is poisonous to good Christians and that the indoctrination needs to be called out, Andrew
?

My RESPONSE:

You speak of harpazo in tragic ignorance, not even realizing what you speak, and not realizing it is the direct Greek G726 — and it is specifically used in the context of the divine CATCHING UP OF THE SAINTS exactly as described in the Rapture.

It’s not surprising you conflate the state of Israel with true Israel again described in the MYSTERY which you definitely do not understand. See my MYSTERY teaching explained in link below:

YOU ARE OF THE CHURCH OF LAODICEA — speaking words without knowledge, darkening counsel with empty, vain words.

YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE MYSTERY OF THE CHURCH and actually do not realize that PAUL REVEALED THE 3 CRITICAL REVELATIONS OF THE MYSTERY.

YOU WILL MOST CERTAINLY GET WHAT YOU HOPE FOR.

Why do you and your kind use DARBY 1800 when Paul wrote out the Mystery clearly 1800 years earlier???

You Are Speaking as a Laodicean

Prerequisite Studies:

Whoever denies Paul's Gospel Denies Jesus Christ

The Laodicean church thinks it is rich and in need of nothing. It is actually wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked (Revelation 3:17 KJV). It mocks the very Mystery that would deliver it from the hour of temptation.Your post is a perfect example of Laodicean ignorance — attacking the very word (harpazo) and the very event (the catching up) that the Apostle Paul used to comfort the Thessalonian believers.

You asked me if I agree that this is “heretical ideology from the 1800s” that needs to be called out.

No. Absolutely NOT.

I call you out.You are the one darkening counsel with words without knowledge.

You are the one who does not understand the Mystery.

You are speaking as one of the Laodicean church that Jesus Christ is about to spew out of His mouth. The harpazo is real.

The catching up of the saints is biblical.

The three-fold Mystery given to Paul stands as an eternal witness against every Laodicean voice that tries to tear it down.

Maranatha.

Come quickly, Lord Jesus.

Some notes taken from my study in case you don’t have the time to actually study:

The Three Critical Revelations of the Mystery Paul Received from Jesus Christ

You claim to know Scripture, yet you do not understand the Mystery given directly to Paul by the risen Lord Jesus. As I have documented in detail:The Mystery has three parts:

  1. The Gospel of Grace — Salvation by grace through faith alone, not of works.

  2. The Identity of the Church — The Church is Israel (the one new man, including Old Testament saints, the Jewish remnant, and Tribulation saints — all grafted into the Abrahamic root).

  3. The Pre-Tribulation Rapture — The catching up (harpazo) of the Church before the wrath of God is poured out.

This is not some 1800s invention. This is Pauline revelation straight from Jesus Christ Himself (Ephesians 3, Colossians 1, 1 Corinthians 15, 1 Thessalonians 4, KJV).  Read my MYSTERY teachings in the link.

First, Let’s Correct the Record (Because Truth Matters)

The word is not from Latin text.

Harpazo (ἁρπάζω) is pure Greek — Strong’s G726.

The English word “Rapture” comes from the Latin rapturo, which is simply the translators’ rendering of the Greek harpazo in 1 Thessalonians 4:17. While harpazo appears more than five times in the New Testament, it is specifically used to describe a divine catching up / snatching away in these five critical passages — each one showing exactly the same supernatural action that will happen to the Church at the Rapture:

  1. Acts 8:39 — “And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more…”
(Philip was supernaturally transported — same word, same action.)

  2. 2 Corinthians 12:2 — “I knew a man in Christ… such an one caught up to the third heaven.”
(Paul’s own experience — whether in the body or out, he could not tell.)

  3. 2 Corinthians 12:4 — “…How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words…”
(The same man — Paul — caught up into the third heaven/paradise.)

  4. 1 Thessalonians 4:17 — “…then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
This is the classic Rapture passage. Same Greek word. Same divine catching up.

  5. Revelation 12:5 — “And she brought forth a man child… and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.”
(The man child — saints — caught up to the throne.)

Email me if you really want to understand Revelation 12:5 and 2 Thessalonians 2:2,3  KJV. These scriptures also confuse the PreTrib Rapture deniers.

These five uses of harpazo describe exactly what is happening in the catching up of the saints.

The other occurrences (such as the wolf catching the sheep in John 10:12 that you quoted) are contextual and do not cancel out the clear divine catching-up usages.

Nice to see you making an attempt with the KING JAMES BIBLE because usually you go around in your NIV translation which does not even use the language you use here … ATTACK is what your favorite corrupted NIV bible translation says…  but I digress…

CONTEXT RULES.

Your understanding of solid Bible Hermeneutics is lacking. Even your pastor should at least be able to teach you that without contextual evidence it is futile to interpret scripture. So let’s do a context lesson.

You compare John 10:12 with 1 Thessalonians and try to shoehorn your thoughts into violence.

Here is my detailed analysis on how to actually study which includes examples of how we determine context and the vocabulary within the parameters of context which then is critical in understanding the Harmonizing scripture part which you’re also severely lacking in understanding by your post.

https://www.thethirdheaventraveler.com/2022/04/understand-bible-from-workman-approved.html

After understanding the context we have to enter the exegesis of GRAMMAR, SYNTAX and VOCABULARY which you also do not understand.  In my study link above I go into exhaustive detail using tried and true methods I used as a licensed language teacher and used under my tutelage under a brilliant Harvard ancient greek/hebrew linguist and from 2 Cambridge University Tutors.

Now, let's do both an English Grammar and vocabulary lesson on why the King James translators use the present indicative 3rd person singular “catches” in John 10:12 and the past tense in the 5 Rapture scriptures.

English Grammar and Vocabulary Lesson: Why “catcheth” (Present Tense) in John 10:12 but “caught up / caught away” (Past Tense) in the Five Rapture Scriptures

The King James translators were master Greek scholars. They did not make a mistake. They translated precisely according to the Greek verb tense, voice, and context in each passage.Vocabulary First (The Root Meaning of Harpazo G726):

Harpazo (ἁρπάζω) means to seize, snatch, catch away, or take by force — suddenly and often with power. It is the same root word in every case.

The difference is not in the word itself, but in how and when the action happens.

Now the Grammar Lesson:1. John 10:12 – “catcheth” (Present Indicative Active, 3rd person singular)

Greek: ἁρπάζει (harpazei)

  • Present tense = ongoing, habitual, or characteristic action.

  • Indicative mood = stating a fact or general truth.

  • Active voice = the wolf is the one doing the action.

KJV Translation: “…and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.” This is a general description of what a wolf always does or habitually does when it attacks. It is not a one-time historical event. The translators chose the old English present tense “catcheth” (with the -eth ending for 3rd person singular, common in 1611 KJV style) to show this is the wolf’s typical behavior. It paints a picture of ongoing danger and predation — exactly as Jesus intended in the Good Shepherd teaching.

2. The Five Rapture / Catching-Up Scriptures – Past or Future Completed Action These use forms that describe a definite, completed, or future sudden event — not a habitual action.

  • Acts 8:39 — Greek: ἥρπασεν (hērpasen) — Aorist Indicative Active (past tense, completed action).
KJV: “the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip”
→ A one-time, sudden supernatural event that already happened.

  • 2 Corinthians 12:2 & 12:4 — Greek: ἡρπάγη (hērpagē) — Aorist Passive (was caught up).

  • KJV: “such an one caught up to the third heaven” … “caught up into paradise.”
→ Paul describing a past experience that suddenly happened to him.

  • 1 Thessalonians 4:17 — Greek: ἁρπαγησόμεθα (harpagēsometha) — Future Passive Indicative (we shall be caught up).

  • KJV: “shall be caught up together with them…”
→ A definite future event. The passive shows God is doing the catching.

  • Revelation 12:5 — Greek: ἡρπάσθη (hērpasthē) — Aorist Passive Indicative (was caught up).

  • KJV: “her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.”
    → Sudden, completed divine action.

Why the difference in English?

The KJV translators faithfully followed the Greek grammar.

  • Habitual / general truth in John 10:12 → Present tense (“catcheth”).

  • Sudden, one-time divine catching away (past or future) → Past tense forms (“caught away,” “caught up,” “was caught up”) or future (“shall be caught up”).

This is not inconsistency — it is precision. The same powerful Greek word harpazo is used in every place, but the tense tells us the nature of the action:

  • The wolf’s ongoing threat vs.

  • God’s sudden, irresistible, one-time rescue and transport of His people.

This is exactly why the five “catching up” scriptures stand out so clearly as pictures of the harpazo of the saints. The grammar itself testifies to a divine, sudden snatching away — not a slow process or a general habit.

The above scriptures take care of the harmonizing when you compare other scriptures that use G726 Hapazp

KING JAMES SCRITURES

Summary of Meanings

  • Violent/forceful seizure (by people or animals): Matt 11:12, John 6:15, John 10:12, Acts 23:10.

  • Snatching away the word / security of believers: Matt 13:19, John 10:28-29.

  • Divine supernatural catching up / transport: Acts 8:39, 2 Cor 12:2, 2 Cor 12:4, 1 Thess 4:17, Rev 12:5.

  • Rescue from peril: Jude 1:23.

  • KING JAMES SCRIPTURES

The word itself simply means to seize, snatch, or catch away (often suddenly and with force). Context determines whether it is negative (wolf snatching sheep) or positive (God catching up His people). The five “catching up” uses (especially Acts 8:39, 2 Cor 12:2-4, 1 Thess 4:17, Rev 12:5)KJV powerfully illustrate the harpazo event you emphasize for the saints.
