Matthew 7:1

“Judge not, that ye be not judged.”

Matthew 7:2

“For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.”

This is what Matthew 7:1,2 is saying: Do not withhold judgment in the hopes you won't be judged because your judgement and the standards based on your judgement of someone is the standard you will be judged by.

Paul addresses 2 kinds of Christians - SPIRITUAL & CARNAL

1 Corinthians 2:15

“But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.”

3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

4 If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.

5 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?

(Paul would not have recommended this class of people to decide their causes, but would have recommended the selection of the most wise and virtuous among them. This is proved by 1 Corinthians 6:5, where, in directing them to settle their matters among themselves, he asks whether there is not a "wise man" among them, clearly proving that he wished their difficulties adjusted, not by the most obscure and the least respected members of the church, but by the most wise and intelligent members.  Bible Hub Barnes Commentary.)

We must remember that Jesus is speaking in the Kingdom Dispensation which is referring to the Kingdom of God which will be literal in the millennial kingdom.  However, in this dispensation of GRACE we see the applicable scripture found in Romans 3:20,23-25 King James Bible: "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Being justified freely by his grace through faith that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God."

We are commanded to judge, call out - rebuke, reprove all false doctrines and teachers. Those we judge we stand them up to the DOCTRINE of GOD - The Entire Word of God.  They will be judged by that standard.  When they turn and judge us we are judged by this same, very same DOCTRINE as well and by God's GRACE we stand as RIGHTEOUS and JUSTIFIED before God because of our LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST.

Verse 2. - Do ye not know? The word "or" should be supplied from א, A, B, C, D, F, etc. Bishop Wordsworth points out that this emphatic question occurs ten times in these two Epistles (1 Corinthians 3:6; 1 Corinthians 5:6; 1 Corinthians 6:2, 3, 9, 15, 16, 19; 1 Corinthians 9:13, 24), and only twice in all the rest (Romans 6:16; Romans 11:2). It was a fitting rebuke to those who took for knowledge their obvious ignorance. It resembles the "Have ye not so much as read?" to Pharisees who professed such profound familiarity with the Scriptures. That the saints shall judge the world. So Daniel (Daniel 7:22) had said, "The Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the Most High." Our Lord had confirmed this promise to his apostles, "Ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel" (Matthew 19:28). Various modes of evading the literal sense have been adopted, but even in the Book of Wisdom we find, "They [the righteous] shall judge the nations, and have dominion over the people" (Wisd. 3:8). All speculation as to the manner and extent in which the saints shall share in the work of Christ as Judge of the quick and dead, are obviously futile. Shall be judged; literally, is being judged - the present points to the future, as though that which is inevitable is already in course of fulfilment. To judge the smallest matters; literally, of the smallest judgments.
