King Nebuchadnezzar - The Mighty Tree where all the foul dwelt.

4 Nebuchadnezzar the king, unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.

2 I thought it good to shew the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought toward me.

3 How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.

Matthew 5:17-20

King James Version

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

In Matt 12:24 the religious leaders accuse Jesus of casting out demons by the power of Satan. This is the climax of the rejection by the leadership. Jesus says this is unpardonable and in turn rejects Israel.

The Mystery is Set In Place when the Kingdom of Heaven has been Removed from the Jews and soon Paul will be given the MYSTERY to BRING IN THE GENTILES INTO THE PROMISE OF ABRAHAM - THE WILD OLIVE TREE BRANCH GRAFTED INTO THE OLIVE TREE ISRAEL

The Church of Laodicea does NOT know The Mystery given to Paul from Jesus (thethirdheaventraveler.com)

Matt 13 is hinged in the literary structure of the book. It is a turning point in the ministry of Jesus. In Matt 13 Jesus begins talking about the mystery form of the kingdom by telling parables. We know that because in 13:10 the disciples asked Jesus why he was speaking in parables. He answers that he is revealing the mysteries of the kingdom.

In Matt 13 we have eight parables. Six begin with the phrase, “The kingdom of heaven is like...” The first one doesn’t begin that way, but we know it is about the kingdom from its explanation in 13:19. The last one doesn’t begin that way, but it talks about a disciple of the kingdom.

THE MYSTERY inheriting the Kingdom

I will be going into great depth further

down.

WHY DOES JOHN SAY KINGDOM here in Revelation 1:9 Kingdom of Jesus Christ

Revelation 1:9

“I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.”

6. The Costly Pearl (13:45-46) - It’s priceless once we find it.

7. The Dragnet (13:47-50) -  Keep the good ones and throw out the rest

8. The Householder (13:52) - We must teach others

The Sower and the Soils (13:1-9) - The beginning of the Kingdom

Jesus ends this parable with the statement, “He who has ears, let him hear.” What does He mean? What is necessary for hearing or better -- understanding the parables? An open and receptive heart. How do we know that? He will tell us in the next section

THE REASON FOR PARABLES (13:10-17)

Chiastic Structure

1. “Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.

2. “And in their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says,

3. ‘You will keep on hearing, but will not understand;

4. And you will keep on seeing, but will not perceive;

5. For the heart of this people has become dull,

6. And with their ears they scarcely hear,

7. And they have closed their eyes

7’ Lest they should see with their eyes,

6’ And hear with their ears,

5’ And understand with their heart and return, And I should them.

4’ “But blessed are your eyes, because they see;

3’ and your ears, because they hear.

2’ “For truly I say to you, that many prophets and righteous men

1’ desired to see what you see, and did not see [it]; and to hear what you hear, and did not hear [it].

This whole section can be outlined as a chiasm. At the center of the chiasm is the most important part - the focus of the passage. Numbers 5,6 & 7 reveal the root problem and give us a progression. Because they had hard hearts, they could not hear Jesus’ words. Because they would not listen to His words, they could not see who He was. They could not see that He was the Messiah. Therefore they could not see the kingdom that had come upon them.

When you understand this, the miracles which involved restoring sight to the blind take on new significance. They become physical symbols of the spiritual blindness of Israel.

The reason Jesus told the parables was to hide the truth from those with hard hearts who did not want to hear the truth and did not want Jesus as their Messiah. They were looking for a different type of Messiah. They wanted one who would come in and defeat their earthly enemies right then.

But while He was hiding the truth from the hard hearted, he was also revealing truth to those who had open hearts and were willing to accept the truth, even if it was not what they expected.

What did the prophets and righteous men not see nor hear that the disciples were hearing about and soon to see? (Matt 13:17)

The interadvent age. In OT Israel there was the present age and the age to come. The age to come was the kingdom where the Messiah would rule. What the prophets and righteous men did not see or hear about was the church age. They only saw one coming of the Messiah in the OT. They didn’t see him coming to die the first time, and returning later to judge. (Isa 61:1-2)

What Jesus is doing is revealing truth about the interadvent age - the church age - a mystery form of the kingdom. Matt 13:12 says, “what they have shall be taken away...” What is it that they don’t have? Spiritual insight. What will be taken away? Their responsibility. Because they rejected Jesus, their responsibility to reach the world - bless the world would be taken from them and given to others - the church.

2. The Parables of Matthew 13 | Bible.org

KINGDOM is the literally millennial Kingdom of God also known as the Kingdom of Heaven, example: Revelation 21:10 clearly shows us the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God are synonymous.

Revelation 21:10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

 - However we must look at the context because:

Although they are used frequently in scripture as synonymous we find where in some instances Kingdom of Heaven refers to the Literal physical kingdom of the Millennial Kingdom whereas Kingdom of God is the ever present Spiritual Kingdom.

However, we see in Luke 17:21 they are not.

For a very short synopsis: USE CONTEXT and know who is talking. Example: Why Matthew uses Kingdom of Heaven and Kingdom of God 5 times

SPIRITUAL

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

sometimes specifically to designate spiritual or physical whereas Mark, Luke, John and Paul use Kingdom of God exclusively and interchangeably.

This is NOT an accurate statement of which most scholars I’ve found adhere to:

WRONG! Below:    The reason is because Matthew needed to differentiate between PHYSICAL and SPIRITUAL in a very clear way.

The main differences between The Gospel of Matthew and Mark are12:

  • The Gospel of Mark is much shorter than the Gospel of Matthew, containing only 16 chapters as opposed to Matthew’s 28.

  • Mark focuses more on the actions of Jesus while Matthew emphasizes his teachings.

  • Mark includes a number of stories that are not found in Matthew, such as the feeding of the 4,000 and Jesus’ cursing of the fig tree.

  • Matthew is written as a story for Jews and Mark was written for Romans.

The reason why Matthew uses the phrase “kingdom of Heaven” more often than “kingdom of God” (which he uses only five (5) times in his gospel, although there are textual variants) is because he wrote to a Jewish audience, and the Jews did not pronounce the Tetragrammaton יַהְוֶה (Yahveh), and sometimes not even the word אֱלֹהִים (elohim).

 Mt 5:19 - Ecclesiastes: 1

...called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall...

*

 Mt 3:2 -  2 Chronicles: 22

And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Colossians 1:13

“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:”

King James Version (KJV)

Matthew 12:28

But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

King James Version (KJV)

John 8:42

“Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

King James Version (KJV)

Furthermore, understanding the Spiritual Kingdom and the Connection to ENTER the Physical Kingdom stems from Luke 17:21 KJB and connecting the dots to John 3:4KJB

Luke 17:21

Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

King James Version (KJV)

John 3:4

“Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?”

King James Version (KJV)

2 Timothy 4:1

“I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;”

King James Version (KJV)

Note: Kingdom here in context is the actual KINGSHIP of Jesus Christ this extends to the GWTJ at the end of the Millennial Kingdom when ALL the lost will be judged.  Again note the conjunction “and” here in context is copulative (which is)  To consider cumulative (and in addition to) would make this impossible to harmonize with Revelation 1:7, Daniel 7:9, Matthew 16:27 etc.

Note: See the applicable scriptures of Kingdom (356 total kingdom in the KJB) in notes below:
