Examine your SALT dear Saint #Doctrine
Matthew 5:13
“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.”
King James Version (KJV)
In order to comprehend this scripture we have to understand the figurative and literal meaning of salt.
In the physical world Salt is Essential. The literal sense of salt (Sodium Chloride NaCl) is essential to life as both the metabolic function of our cells and also a key agent to prevent spoiling in its action in preventing the growth of bacteria in meat. Its savor or taste is used as a seasoning to enhance the flavor of food.
In the physical world Salt does not lose its flavor (savor) unless it is exposed to air and although salt (common table salt) is highly stable and does not lose saltiness over time, as long as it is stored in a cool, dry place in an airtight container, prolonged exposure to air can lead to moisture absorption, which can then impact the taste.
In the physical world, salt that has lost its taste (savor), is useless.
Now in the spiritual sense we must focus on the TASTE or savor of salt in its figurative expression and why the King James Bible uses the 3rd person possessive masculine pronoun "his" and not what the errant modern translations use "its".
We focus on the word SAVOR (from the King James Bible spelled savour from the English spelling). "His" in the King James makes this about the individual and not the substance salt itself. This is why the Greek Strongs G3471 meaning “tasteless” which comes from the root G3474 meaning impious (godless) meaning in the context: Not walking in the Spirit but in the CARNAL mind which is enmity against God.
This would be a CARNAL Christian who is not using the correct Doctrine that is not in Jesus Christ. See Paul’s warnings to the church in 2 Timothy 2:5, Colossians 2:8 and Romans 8:9 and John’s teaching in John 16:13 KJB.
Just as in the physical world, salt can lose its savor if left exposed to the elements. In the spiritual world, if a person gets caught up with the affairs of this world, what little faith they have will eventually choke out and diminish the witness of an individual.
