Getting Really Real about FAITH is knowing Christ and Him Crucified Jonah in the Whale is our Lesson

 Jonah understood Faith very well.

It wasn't until he WAS DEAD did he KNOW FAITH.

In the Old Testament, specifically in the Book of Jonah, the Hebrew word used is “דָּג גָּדוֹל” (dag gadol), which translates to "great fish"1. This term is more general and doesn’t specify a particular species.

In the New Testament, when Jesus refers to Jonah’s story in Matthew 12:40, the Greek word “κῆτος” (ketos) is used, which can mean a large sea creature or sea monster2. The King James translators chose to render this word as “whale,” likely because it was a familiar large sea creature to their audience.

Make no mistake Jonah was not walking around inside the fish or whale's body for 3 days, his body was DEAD, his soul and spirit were in sheol, hades, hell (Abraham's Bosom) See my study on the Rich Man and Lazarus Luke 16 KJB

Jonah and the Whale by Pastor Riley 2014:

The Sign of Jonah (thethirdheaventraveler.com)

1 Corinthians 2:2

“For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.”

King James Version (KJV)

Jonah 2:8

“They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.”

King James Version (KJV)

Jonah was inside the fish when he prayed the prayer recorded in Jonah 2:8. The Bible specifically mentions that Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish however, we must consider the preceding verses 2 through 7 along with Psalm 18:46, 42:7 among other Pslams and Matthew 12:40 KJB.

Jonah 2:2

“And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.”

King James Version (KJV)

“Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish’s belly” (Jonah 2:1 KJV).

Matthew 12:40

For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

King James Version (KJV)

Comment on this video:

Great video brother thank you, could you possibly do a video on faith.

Paul vs James, hyper grace vs faith that produces works.

I study the scripture daily yet this subject can be confusing when comparing scripture to scripture.

Jesus words scare me the most on this subject they honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me.

I know deep inside it is as simple as the serpent on the pole in the wilderness.

Yet daily I feel like a failure who needs to show myself approved by works.

How do we fight this inward battle of conflicting ideas?

My Response:

I've read and read again your question, and the highlighted portions stand out the most to me.

You understand FAITH but it seems clear we have to not only understand faith on a cognitive level but on a spiritual level which is KNOWING Faith.   And we Must Know the Christ and Him crucified (go to the cross Galatians 2:20 KJB)

* to understand vs to know:

And in the deepest sense we need to all study the word of God to be approved unto God in the King James Bible:

why does the King James use the preposition OF and not IN as compared to the modern perverted translations?

NASB 1995
nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.

Galatians 2:16 New International Version 16 know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ.

16 knowing that a man is not [a]justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ,

Galatians 2:16

“Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”

King James Version (KJV)

Galatians 2:20

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

King James Version (KJV)
