Messianic Psalms are Vital "essentials" of our FAITH #doctrine #KingJamesBible #discipleship

Acts 13:22

“And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.”

King James Version (KJV)

2 Samuel 7:16

“And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.”

King James Version (KJV)

Preface:

The ultimate purpose of this study is to reveal what the Messianic Psalms are and to show how these Psalms are essential to knowing who Jesus Christ is and our role as the Church of Philadelphia, The Church, The Bride and Body of Christ, One in Israel, One in Christ.

The connection between the Abrahamic Covenant, Davidic Covenant point to the MYSTERY of the Church.

Without understanding this foundational truth, one can not fully know who they are spiritually.

Essential background study:

This will be a seven-part series beginning here with the Introduction, followed by 5 parts going through five of the key Messianic Psalms - Chapters 2, 16, 22, 69, and 110.

Psalms 22:1

“(To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David.) My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?”

King James Version (KJV)

The foundational essentials of our faith as followers of Jesus Christ called Christians is DOCTRINE established in the King James Bible as the final authority of God's WORD.

Matthew 10:34

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

King James Version (KJV)

Doctrine is which is Jesus Christ as the WORD who teaches us all of His Word established in the King James Bible.

It is tragic but necessary to our faith to understand why the word Christian is avoided by the Messianic Jews like Amir Tsarfati, one of the most prominent figures of the Laodicean Church. It is also tragic but necessary to our faith to understand there are two versions of today's Christian: The Church of Philadelphia - The true Church, body of Christ, the Bride of Christ and the Church of Laodicea - the false church who will represent the 10 foolish virgins, the bridesmaids.  Note that only half of the fake Christians along with the Remnant of Jews will come out of the Tribulation as the five wise virgins.  See my related studies.

Introduction:

The Messianic Psalms have two primary functions: 1. To prophecy the Messiah and 2. As part of that Prophecy is to identify the future fulfillment of the Davidic Covenant.

For quite some time now I've been deeply inspired to go deep into the Davidic Covenant*

* The Davidic Covenant is God's eternal Promise that David's kingdom would be forever meaning the Millennial Kingdom into the Eternal State.

This being that Jesus Christ the son of David would literally reign supreme with true Israel.

The Davidic Covenant is the promise God gave to King David that his kingdom would last forever.

This covenant is found in 2 Samuel 7:12-16, where God promises David that his throne will be established forever through his descendants12.

Jesus Christ is often seen as the fulfillment of this covenant, being referred to as the “Son of David” and establishing an eternal kingdom.

In this sense, Jesus is considered a type and shadow of King David34The millennial reign of Christ, as described in Revelation 20, is seen by many as a period where Christ will reign on earth for a thousand years, which will then transition into the eternal state56.

The Davidic Covenant is an everlasting kingdom, fulfilled in Jesus Christ, who will establish His reign into eternity.

Divine Relationship: God establishes a father-son relationship with David’s descendants, highlighting the special bond and favor (2 Samuel 7:14, Psalm 89:26-27).

We must know who Jesus Christ is.

He is NOT the 2nd Person of the Trinity or another god of the 3 god Trinity or 3 person Trinity.

He is God Almighty and has existed for eternity and was NOT created by God the Father but rather brought himself through the womb - uterus - not the ovaries of the virgin Mary.

The key Messianic Psalms I will be covering are:

Psalm 2: Speaks of the Messiah as God’s Anointed One and His ultimate victory over the nations.

Psalm 16: Foretells the resurrection of the Messiah, stating that God will not allow His Holy One to see corruption.

Psalm 22: Describes the suffering and crucifixion of the Messiah in vivid detail, including the words Jesus spoke on the cross: “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”* and much deeper including references to piercing his hands and feet, the casting of lots for his garments and the mocking and suffering.

Psalm 69: Reflects the suffering and rejection of the Messiah, including the prophecy that He would be given vinegar to drink.

Psalm 110: Portrays the Messiah as a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek and as a conquering king.

Originally, I had planned on going from Psalm 2 and continue in numerical ascending order through Psalm 110.  However, I had the sense to  Begin with Psalm 22 because of the overall encompassing scope of this chapter.

Psalm 22 references to Jesus Christ:

Psalm 22, Matthew 27, and Hebrews 2 are deeply interconnected, especially in the context of Jesus Christ’s suffering and crucifixion.

We Must Understand The Patience of Jesus Christ to Understand His Kingdom (thethirdheaventraveler.com)

Revelation 1:9 and the Matthew 13 Kingdom Parables (thethirdheaventraveler.com)

Psalm 22: This psalm is often seen as a prophetic description of Jesus’ crucifixion. It begins with the words, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” (Psalm 22:1 KJV), which Jesus quotes on the cross in Matthew 27:461.

The psalm describes the suffering, mocking, and physical agony that Jesus endured, including the piercing of His hands and feet (Psalm 22:16 KJV)

  1. Matthew 27: This chapter details the events leading up to and including Jesus’ crucifixion. It directly references Psalm 22 in several places, such as Jesus’ cry of abandonment (Matthew 27:46 KJV) and the soldiers casting lots for His clothing (Matthew 27:35 KJV)1.

  2. Hebrews 2: This chapter emphasizes Jesus’ humanity (as a man, an earthly being but not human) and His suffering for the sake of humanity.

  3. It quotes Psalm 22:22 KJV, “I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee” (Hebrews 2:12 KJV), highlighting Jesus’ role in bringing many sons to glory through His suffering2.

The Old Testament prophecies in Psalm 22 are fulfilled in the New Testament accounts of Jesus’ crucifixion and His role as the suffering Messiah.

Conclusion:

I close this study on The Messianic Psalm by summarizing:

We have to Know Jesus and who He is and Who we are in Him. We have to know King David is really real in Bible Prophecy and it has DIRECT connection to us the CHURCH.

We have to know that David was called from the Sheepcote (sheep pen) as are we the Saints.

We have to know that David was NOT man's first choice and neither are we.

Samuel asked Jesse if he had any other sons:

We have to know that we will suffer to reign and although we know our eternal destiny we have to endure for a season.

2 Timothy 2:12

“If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:”

King James Version (KJV)

David was anointed king by Samuel in 1 Samuel 16:13: "Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah"1.

Despite being anointed, David continued to serve King Saul for several years. He initially served as Saul’s armor-bearer and musician, as described in 1 Samuel 16:21-23: "And David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armourbearer. And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David, I pray thee, stand before me; for he hath found favour in my sight. And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him".

David served Saul for approximately 7 years in his court before fleeing due to Saul’s jealousy and attempts on his life3After fleeing, David spent another 4 years being hunted by Saul and living in various places, including Ziklag.

In total, David’s service and subsequent evasion from Saul lasted around 11 years before Saul’s death, after which David was anointed king over Judah and later over all Israel.

The phrase “a man after God’s own heart” is found in 1 Samuel 13:14 and is reiterated in Acts 13:22. Here are the relevant scriptures from the King James Version (KJV):

1 Samuel 13:14:

“But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.”

Acts 13:22:

“And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.”

Background and Deep Study

Faithfulness and Obedience: David was chosen by God because of his faithfulness and obedience. Unlike Saul, who disobeyed God’s commands, David sought to follow God’s will and commandments1.

Repentance: Despite his sins, David was quick to repent and seek God’s forgiveness. His heartfelt repentance is evident in Psalms, such as Psalm 51, where he pleads for mercy after his sin with Bathsheba2.

Love for God: David’s love for God was profound. He expressed his devotion through psalms and worship, showing a deep, personal relationship with God3.

Humility:David displayed humility, acknowledging his dependence on God. He often sought God’s guidance and gave credit to God for his successes4.

Courage and Trust: David’s courage and trust in God were evident in his battle with Goliath and throughout his life. He trusted God to deliver him from his enemies and relied on God’s strength5.

Heart for Justice and Righteousness: David had a strong sense of justice and righteousness. He sought to lead Israel according to God’s laws and principles6.

These qualities made David a man after God’s own heart, despite his imperfections. His life serves as an example of sincere devotion, repentance, and a deep relationship with God.

More on the connection of David identified as a man after God's own heart; the Davidic Covenant

The Davidic Covenant is a significant aspect of God’s relationship with David and his descendants. Here are some key examples from the King James Version (KJV) that highlight the covenant and its connection to David being a man after God’s own heart:

2 Samuel 7:8-17

“Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel: And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth. Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime, And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee an house. And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever. I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee. And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever. According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.”

Psalm 89:3-4

“I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant, Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah.”

Psalm 89:20-29

“I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him: With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him. The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him. And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him. But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted. I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers. He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation. Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him. His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.”

Key Connections to David Being a Man After God’s Own Heart

God’s Choice and Anointing:  God chose David and anointed him, recognizing his heart and devotion (2 Samuel 7:8-9, Psalm 89:20).

Promise of an Everlasting Kingdom: The covenant promises an everlasting kingdom through David’s lineage, emphasizing God’s enduring favor and commitment (2 Samuel 7:16, Psalm 89:4).

Divine Relationship: God establishes a father-son relationship with David’s descendants, highlighting the special bond and favor (2 Samuel 7:14, Psalm 89:26-27).

Mercy and Faithfulness: Despite any iniquity, God’s mercy and faithfulness remain with David and his lineage, reflecting God’s grace and David’s repentant heart (2 Samuel 7:15, Psalm 89:28).

2 Samuel
Chapter 7

1And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest round about from all his enemies;

2That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.

3And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thine heart; for the LORD is with thee.

4And it came to pass that night, that the word of the LORD came unto Nathan, saying,

5Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the LORD, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?

6Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.

7In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why build ye not me an house of cedar?

8Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:

9And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.

10Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime,

11And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee an house.

12And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

13He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

14I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:

15But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.

16And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

17According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

18Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?

19And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD?

20And what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord GOD, knowest thy servant.

21For thy word's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them.

22Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

23And what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?

24For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, LORD, art become their God.

25And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said.

26And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.

27For thou, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee.

28And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:

29Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.
