Psalm 2
King James Version
2 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
7 I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
I'm going to open this study with some well-known, prominent online Bible Commentary. I will then present my extensive study that dismantles their misunderstanding of 1. the Godhead 2. The Mystery of the Church, and 3. The Judgment Seat of Christ and the Great White Throne Judgment, and finally 4. The Millennial Kingdom.
And as I pointed out in the Prelude, I will place special emphasis on verse 2 of Chapter two which comes down to this:

I can't stress enough that the commentary I present are not only well established and accepted Bible Commentary, but they represent and are the epitome of the Theological Conventional Wisdom of our day, these last days of this age. I include Matthew Henry because many times he is solid in his use of the King James and his sound doctrine, but alas here he is found wanting in the balance.
Psalm 2 is a powerful and prophetic psalm that speaks about the rebellion of nations against God and His Anointed One, the Messiah. Here is a summary of some comprehensive commentaries on Psalm 2 from the King James Version (KJV) Bible:
Enduring Word Bible Commentary
- Verses 1-3: The psalmist is mystified by the nations’ rage and their vain plotting against God and His Anointed. This opposition is ultimately futile because it is against the LORD and His Anointed, who is the Christ1.
- Verses 4-6: God responds to this rebellion with laughter, not fear. He sits in the heavens with perfect peace and assurance, and He has set His King on His holy hill of Zion1.
- Verses 7-9: The Messiah declares the decree of the LORD, affirming His Sonship and the promise of dominion over the nations1.
- Verses 10-12: The psalm concludes with a call to wisdom for the kings and rulers of the earth, urging them to serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling. They are advised to “Kiss the Son,” a sign of submission and reverence1.
Matthew Henry’s Commentary
- Verses 1-3: This section highlights the opposition to the Messiah’s kingdom, which is ultimately in vain. The psalm prophesies the opposition that Christ and His kingdom would face2.
- Verses 4-6: Despite the opposition, God will establish His King on Zion. The psalm emphasizes God’s sovereignty and the futility of resisting His will2.
- Verses 7-9: The Messiah is declared as God’s Son, and He is given the promise of ruling over the nations with a rod of iron2.
- Verses 10-12: The psalm ends with a warning to the rulers of the earth to submit to the Messiah and serve the LORD with reverence. It is a call to embrace the grace of the gospel and come to God through the Mediator2.

This is the proof why I spent such an extraordinary amount of time in Part 1 and 2 defining the Godhead and who Jesus Christ is. In parts one and two I spent most of my time focused on knowing Jesus Christ.
We see here clearly that Enduring Word sees this picture of the Trinity (2 of the 3 gods/persons) in his vain and carnal mind.
My Commentary:
Psalm 2 is a tremendous window to know who we are in Christ and ultimately of course giving us a deeper understanding of Jesus Christ himself.
Again, as I open my Blog
The Third Heaven Traveler
"This Blog is about our spiritual life IN Jesus Christ and Him IN us who believe on Him..." Once we know Jesus Christ and we know who we are in him - OUR IDENTITY.
We are well on our way of walking in the spirit and not after the flesh and more importantly we are striving lawfully and fulfill mission in this life.
King James Version 2 Timothy 2:3 -5 KJB:
3. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
5 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

In Psalm Chapter 2
The Holy Ghost -The Spirit of Christ - The Mind of Christ speaking through the mouth of David - once again establishes Jesus Christ as God Almighty who will reign for eternity and "the Saints" will reign with Him. And that all the enemies of God will be destroyed forever. The Battle of Armageddon and the Final after the Millennial Reign when the Devil is let out of the bottomless pit and raises the final army against Jesus Christ and His anointed.
It is most compelling to reiterate The Saints are the Church of Philadelphia - The Hebrews - The Church - The Body of Christ - The Bride of Christ - True Israel - One in Israel who will be joined with the Jewish Remnant, The Tribulation Saints and the Old Testament Saints at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.
The Following is the verse-by-verse study:
Psalms 2:1
“Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?”
King James Version (KJV)
Verse One sets up the context:
This is the Prophecy of the Battle of both the Armageddon read Daniel 7 and 12, Joel 3:12-14, Zechariah 14:1-4, Ezekiel 39, Revelation 14:14-16, 16:16, 19:11-21 KJB.
And the FINAL battle of all time will be after the Millennial Reign when the Devil is let out of the bottomless Pit and raises an army against Jesus Christ and the Saints. Read Ezekiel 38, Zechariah 2:4-5, Jeremiah 49:31,32, Judges 18:27 (foreshadowing).

Understanding Second Coming/Battle of Armageddon and the Millennial Reign
It's important to note that throughout prophetic scripture, that points to a future event, there are compelling types and shadows of what we witness in this word. For example, in our spiritual battles we continually see our enemies hate us without cause as they Jesus before us, and because of Jesus Christ in us.
The Heathen*
Christians understand the Heathen are the enemy of the Church and Jesus Christ but the friend of the Devil.
The Great Irony is most who think themselves Christian are actually heathen, friends of the Devil and enemies of Jesus Christ
See my study on the Church of Philadelphia vs the Church of Laodicea
Revelation 3:17
“Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:”

Another Great Irony is most of the Jews believing themselves children of God are actually descendants of Esau.

The Jews believe the Heathen are the Gentiles (Goiyim).
But the spiritual reality is the opposite.
The fake Jews, The church of Laodicea and the Lost souls are all of the enemies of Jesus Christ and those the world think are the enemies of the Devil, are actually his friends.
* The Word Heathen comes from the Hebrew Word: goi, H1471 = Nation or People. Ancient Hebrew Lexicon = The people of a nation as the back or body, heathen, gentiles.
Heathen etymology: non-Christian, non-Jewish meaning one who does not believe in the God of the Bible; However, the Jews look at Heathen as Gentiles or Pagans.
The Shock and Awe of Paul in the book of Hebrews (thethirdheaventraveler.com)
The Hebrew word “goy” (גוי) means “nation” or "people"12. In the Bible, it is used to refer to both the nation of Israel and other nations12. However, over time, the term evolved to specifically denote non-Jewish people, especially in the Hellenistic and Roman periods12.
In Yiddish, the term “goy” (plural: “goyim”) is commonly used to refer to Gentiles, or non-Jews12. This usage has been adopted into modern Hebrew and English as well12.
Rage: (verb)
As a verb, "rage" can mean12345:
- To be in a state of fury or violent anger.
- To act or speak with great force or violence.
- To continue with great force or violence.
- To speak or behave in a very angry way.
The word Rage proves the prophetic Battles of Armageddon and the final Post Millennial Battle because of its contextual meaning from Hebrew Strongs H7283: Tumult: Ancient Hebrew Lexicon 2753: The Crowd assembled in a large gathering in the scene of a loud "tumult:
tumult (n.)
late 14c., "noise; confused, disorderly speech, the noisy commotion of a multitude, a noisy uprising, as of a mob,"
Psalms 2:2

Again we continue in the context of the ongoing battle we and the Lord fight in this realm but prophetically speaking we see this pointing to the final 2 great battles I discussed above.
His anointed.
The MOST MISUNDERSTOOD AND ABUSED PHRASE THE LAODICEAN CHURCH AND THE JEWS DO NOT UNDERSTAND. Wait till I discuss Psalm 110.
The anointed ones are the Saints who will reign and rule with him as kings and priests.*
* Note: If you have not read and have a thorough understanding of parts 1 and 2 you will not comprehend this. Tragically, this will leave 95.5 percent of so-called Christians in the dark who refuse to understand.
The anointed one here in Psalm 2 is NOT Jesus Christ but the Saints. Out of a deep yearning in my heart I again place one link in review as part of the hours I spent in parts one and two.

The Church of Laodicea will then become the 10 Virgins entering the Tribulation. Only half of them will come out the rest will experience the 2nd death - the Great White Throne Judgment and the Eternal Lake of Fire.

Revelation 1:6, 5:10, 12:5, 20:6
*
In Luke 16:19-31 (KJV), Jesus tells the parable of the rich man and Lazarus. After both men die, Lazarus is carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom, while the rich man finds himself in torment in Hades. The rich man sees Abraham far off with Lazarus by his side and calls out for mercy. However, Abraham responds:
“And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.” (Luke 16:26 KJV)
This “great gulf” or chasm symbolizes the irreversible separation between the righteous and the wicked after death. It emphasizes the finality of one’s eternal destiny based on their earthly life.
It is here we need to stop and discuss The Anointing is under attack and the anointed ones throughout the Bible:
The Cost of the Anointing of being Called from The Sheepcote (thethirdheaventraveler.com)
Numbers 14: The refusal to enter the Promised Land.
Judges: Multiple cycles of apostasy and repentance.
1 Samuel 8: The demand for a king.
2 Kings 17: The fall of the Northern Kingdom due to idolatry.Restraints from God's Word.
The terms “bands” and “cords” are metaphorical and represent the restraints or limitations imposed by God’s authority and commandments. Bands: These are like fetters or chains that restrain prisoners. In this context, they symbolize the constraints that the rebellious nations feel under God’s rule.
Cords: These are similar to ropes or thongs used to bind oxen to a plow. Here, they represent the ties that bind people to the service and obedience of God.
The rebellious nations in this Psalm are expressing their desire to break free from what they perceive as restrictive and to assert their independence from God’s authority.
The act of “kissing” in this context symbolizes an act of homage, respect, and allegiance.
In ancient times, kissing a ruler or a king was a gesture of submission and loyalty.
W A R N I N G:
(This is an actual commentary on interpretation of Psalm 2:12>
Some commentaries do interpret the phrase “lest he be angry” in Psalm 2:12 as referring to the Father’s wrath rather than that of Jesus Christ. For example, Ellicott’s Commentary for English Readers suggests that the warning is about Jehovah’s (the Father’s) anger1. This interpretation aligns with the context of the psalm, which speaks of God’s sovereignty and the need for rulers and nations to submit to His authority.
The verse emphasizes the importance of showing reverence and submission to the Son, which can be seen as a way to avoid the Father’s wrath. The idea is that by honoring the Son, one is also honoring the Father, and thus avoiding divine judgment.
2 Thessalonians 1:8
“In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:”

The Pope’s ring, known as the Ring of the Fisherman or Anulus Piscatoris, is a significant symbol in the Roman Catholic Church2. The emblem on this gold ring typically depicts St. Peter as a fisherman casting his nets or holding a pair of keys, symbolizing his role as the first Pope and the "fisher of men"34. The reigning Pope’s name is inscribed above the image of St. Peter3.
